Instant Portland Mayhem!!
What an amazing city Portland, Oregon
has turned out to be! Only three weeks in town and I have a
great Rockabilly, Surf, Garage and Bingo Night at a super cool
venue called Duffs Garage starting weekly
on Mondays Feburary 6th at 8:30pm. Should be a real gasser.
Check www.duffsgarage.com
And I am now a member of a great Portland Rockabilly Party Band
known as The Stood Ups! They have a killer disc out that Deke
Dickerson produced and Devil Doll does guest vocals..I am the
new bass guy and will quickly work my upright into band. Watch
for gigs and tours soon..actually I already have a live show
with them on 1/20 at The Ash Street Tavern in Portland. Check
www.thestoodups.com for shows and stuff!
And, My old friend, Greg in San Francisco has contacted me to
help him put on a huge annual Rockabilly, Surf and Garage Festival
in San Fran on Memorial Day. The festival will be called the
San Francisco Shake Down. Watch for details!
I also should have my second screen printing shop open here
around March 2006.
Not bad for a few weeks in town..I got a funny feeling alot
is going to happen here!!
El Paso's a Gasso!
West Tex Rockin' 3/4/05
Z's Psychotronics will be
going on the road in 4/05 for a date or two in New Mexico. The
band is playing out quite a bit and we feature Miss Amanda on
guitar and vocals. Miss Julie on bass. Blaine/Duane on Jrums
and Z has been playing lead git and theremin with reckless abandon.
What Else? Zombo is currently
honking the tenor sax with "The Wolf Calls" Neat.
He has joined up on Bass
with an instro garage rock band and may lend a musical hand
or two to El Paso's Legendary Ecletic "Mano Sol".
Sweet and Petite!
More West Tex Hijinx
The Psychotronics.. Zombo's latest rocking incarnation that
takes rockabilly, garage and high weirdness to a new level.
Gal Julie and the aptly named "Louie Jordan" pull
off the wildest set of music to amuse and confuse the masses..
Playing out in July.
The Living Room Parking Lots..El
Paso's only Bluegrass revival band has drafted ole Z to play
his upright bass. Already playing out and having a shit-kickin'
time!
Man That's Hip Is Zombo's
weekly article in El Paso's "What's Up" entertainment
weekly.. It's his "cliff notes of cool and underground
culture" rant. Whether it be film, bands, cd, websites
or books, this freewheeling column is guaranteed to enlighten
and delight readers.
........and don't forget his
"Bin There, Heard That" crazy record review column
that still runs in Pittsburgh's City Paper..the book and cd
of collected columns out one of these days.
Did them Now Moving On...
After less than a year in the
Pacific Northwest, that Z. got a syndicated slot on KAOS, Olympia
89.3FM to add to his growing list of stations. A cool DJ gig
where every gimmick and improvisational nonsense can happen
has taken shape (Thanks Go Club!)
The Space Needles have finished
work on a CD that was recorded at Pearl Jam's eye-popping studio
and have played extensive shows locally (opening for Deke Dickerson
and Batman (Adam West!) ) Contact me for a copy of this big
CD.
In 2004, I will be releasing
my crazy book about crazy records with a crazy companion CD!
And a killer Burlesque Review!
We have to do more of these!
Now, off to the west Texas town
of El Paso in Jan. 2004!
